About Fowey Valley Cider
I’m Barrie Gibson and I started to make cider about 15 years ago purely for myself, my family and friends. As word got around, more and more people brought us apples, the quality of our cider got better and better, people started to ask if they could buy some, and we came to think maybe it might be the time to ‘go commercial’. We looked around for a base, and in 2012 we found a small orchard and lovely outbuilding that could be converted into a cidery in Golant, not far from where we live in Fowey. That’s when it all began in earnest and we haven’t stopped to take breath since then.
The current range includes: the celebrated Sparkling Vintage Brut Cider, carefully nurtured following the two year Méthode Traditionelle process. He’s followed that with ‘Casteldore’, a lightly carbonated medium dry blush coloured 6.5% ABV. Barrie has developed an Eau de Vie, a 40% ABV apple digestif and a delicious Pommeau 20% ABV which is a blend of Eau de Vie and fresh apple juice. There is also a cider vinegar and to complement this Fowey Valley imports and bottles a gorgeous Sicilian Extra Virgin olive oil made from Nocellara Del Belice olives.
