About Baboo Gelato
Multi-award winning artisanal ice cream maker Baboo Gelato was set up by professional gelatiere Annie Hanbury and her husband Sam in 2015.
There are two things that make us special: our ingredients; and the way we sell our ice cream.
We make our ice cream from scratch. That is very unusual in the world of ice cream. Most manufacturers use flavours and pastes. We use local organic milk. Our fruit comes from our own garden and orchard, or from local suppliers.
We want people to enjoy buying ice cream. We sell our ice cream through our own colourful kiosks in Lyme Regis and West Bay, and to a rapidly growing number of restaurants and gastro-pubs and delis in the South West. We design bespoke flavours for chefs, and are in consistent dialogue with them about seasonal ideas.
In 2016 we won Champion Ice Cream from Taste of the West, and Best Dairy Producer in the Taste of Dorset awards; and we were one of three finalists in both competitions in 2017.
